There are weddings, and then there are cultural landmarks. When actress and fashion tastemaker Temi Otedola and global pop icon Oluwatosin Ajibade—known to the world as Mr Eazi—decided to tie the knot, they didn’t just host a ceremony; they curated a breathtaking, three-part global odyssey.
Looking back at their spectacular summer affair, which spanned from the sun-drenched terraces of Monaco to the vibrant energy of Dubai, and finally to the ethereal landscapes of Iceland, we are reminded of how the couple seamlessly spun high-fashion glamour with deeply rooted heritage.
In an exclusive retrospective, Inawo magazine looks back at an intimate conversation originally published by Office magazine, captured beautifully through the lens of photographer Jose Villa, shedding light on a love story that redefined the modern registry.
The Grand Blueprint
The couple’s legal union commenced at the legendary Villa La Vigie in Monaco—the storied former home of Karl Lagerfeld. Styled to perfection by Carrie Goldberg for Temi and Jason Rembert for Eazi, the duo exuded an understated, regal timelessness. Their Monaco ensembles leaned into a classic Grace Kelly inspiration—clean lines, structured whites, and a tailored suit that redefined effortless sophistication.
But why three distinct locations? It came down to a delicate balance of public life and sacred, personal spaces. Reflecting on their choices, Mr Eazi shared the emotional weight behind the geography of their love story:
"We are both proudly Nigerian, but global citizens in every sense as our work has taken us around the world. For the civil wedding, we had just concluded my late mum's funeral in Nigeria and we wanted a place that was sentimental to us both, but also where we would be alone just the two of us, and Monaco was the most ideal as it’s our euro base (we live between Dubai, Monaco, Lagos and Accra)."
Choosing locations that spanned continents wasn't an aesthetic whim, but rather a map of their lived experiences. As Eazi noted:
"We selected locations that maintained personal sentiment for us both (Monaco being home and private, Iceland being our safe space and Dubai being home & private)."
From Monaco Reflection to Lagos in Dubai
While Monaco served as a calm, deeply reflective civil ceremony underscored by a playlist curated by Temi featuring their favorite love songs and gospel tracks, Dubai was an unapologetic, high-energy celebration of Nigerian culture. Held at the Otedola family’s private Dubai estate—a villa handpicked by Temi's father explicitly with their future wedding in mind—the couple brought the literal essence of Lagos to the UAE.
The roots ran deep through every detail of the traditional ceremony. Eazi explained how the entire environment was transformed:
"We brought Nigeria to Dubai in Temi’s family home, all the food, the officiant (the Alaga), the attire of all the staff, guest and performers was all traditional Yoruba attire, the food was all Naija food, and the band was the legendary King Sunny Ade. Our attires were both Yoruba Wedding attire and we had one that was Iseleuku wedding attire as an ode to my late mum's Ibo heritage, the entire run of events stayed the same as if it were in Lagos and it truly felt like Lagos in Dubai."
For the groom, embracing his roots was never a question. Long before the international stardom and the global tours, Eazi had a singular vision of what his wedding day would look like:
"You know what’s funny is anytime I imagined myself getting married I never pictured the suit part, it was always me in my Agbada with my Fila (Abeti Aja) inspired by the Obasanjo and a Jimmy Carter photo I have been obsessed with since the first time I saw the photo! So it wasn’t even an option to not wear my Yoruba Atire! I was looking forward to this part."
He continued, sharing the profound maternal connection sewn into his garments:
"For the all white beaded look, my late mum actually selected that look for me before she passed, it was inspired by a look the Obi of Issele-Uku, she was from Issele Uku in delta state Nigeria and I was waiting for the day to show the world that I am both a proud Yewa man & a son of Aniocha North."
An Ethereal Finale
The final leg of their romantic trilogy took them to Iceland, a place the couple had escaped to over ten times since they first started visiting in 2021. Surrounded by ice, volcanoes, and moss, the theme was dictated entirely by the raw, majestic beauty of nature. It was their ultimate sanctuary brought to life for their closest circle.
"Iceland it’s Temi and I’s favourite place next to home, it’s our escape and we have been there over 10 times since we started going in 2021, we wanted to bring our friends and family to our special place and it was nothing short of magical."
The soundtrack shifted from the classic Afrobeats and legendary jùjú rhythms of Dubai to a global mosaic, featuring the Havana Heat band—a nod to Eazi's love for Cuban and Spanish music. The night concluded with a show-stopping surprise performance by John Legend, who closed out the evening under the Nordic sky as guests held each other on the dance floor.
The fashion narrative across all three events remained an intentional dialogue between global style and African excellence. When asked about navigating Western and African designers, Eazi emphasized their identity as global citizens:
"Big up Jason Rembert because my biggest concern was matching Temi's energy, she is the queen so I knew what I wanted in terms of the vibe but I needed someone to help me execute it correctly and in line with Temi's vibe, I told him I wanted to have a classic timeless yet understated regal look across all ceremonies and we killed it. It was important for us to be true to ourselves being Global citizens, it was about showing Nigerian elegance in our way, either whilst selecting Nigerian, Gambian or Western designers."
Ultimately, the multi-day affair was less about typical matrimonial opulence and more about sharing their safe spaces with the people they love. It was a masterpiece of design, culture, and high fashion—a trilogy that will undoubtedly inspire love stories, and future music, for generations to come.
